Community Visit by Representative of Friends of VIN, US
20th August, 2014: A representative, Sedi, from friends of VIN, US organization on her visit to Nepal observed and conducted a follow up of community programs like women empowerment, children development, community health and other community development activities. She enthusiastically participated in Women’s group meeting, the income generation activities, micro-credit program, child clubs, the health post and the toilet construction program.
The main objectives of her visit were to observe the ongoing programs along with an aim to find out about possibility for further programs in future. During her observation, she also interacted with women and children. She proposed exporting business opportunity to women if they could produce the same quality of dry vegetables they produce now in a huge quantity. The dry vegetables women produce are typical Nepali products like Masurya, Gundruk. On hearing the proposal, women were excited and encouraged to work for her proposal.
Sedi provided a detailed information about her organization to the women. She explained that her organization is a fellow organization of VIN and is actively working for collecting funds for the purpose of women empowerment projects, toilet construction programs and income generation programs like plastic tunnel and pond construction programs. She gladly informed women that the programs conducted by VIN are successfully implemented in the community.
Women, being interested in her proposal, made a plan to produce vegetables till December of this year. This proposal provided women an opportunity to sustain themselves economically and also uplift their social status. Women of the community were very thankful to Sedi and VIN for working for women empowerment projects.
