Natural Disater awareness program in Okhaldhunga
Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) conducted the disaster awareness program in Taluwa-3. The international volunteer representing VIN conducted the awareness program about the natural disaster. The program was conducted as a part of disaster relief and response after the devastating earthquake of April 2015. The program was attended by around 40-45 locals of the area. The program was conducted with the aim to aware people about the issues related to natural disaster.
The major issues of the program included what is natural disaster, what can be done to prevent the natural disaster and what is the self-protection major and what one should do during the time of disaster. The locals were informed about the various kinds of disaster and they were also interested to learn about it.
The natural calamities and disaster awareness has been important for the people in the community. The earthquake that took place a year ago did a huge destruction. The people were homeless and even the animals died in the disaster. Had people know about such situations beforehand the destruction could have been minimized. So, this class aimed to prepare them for the disasters in the future.
