Seedling Distribution
25th July, 2014: VIN has been supporting in various programs to Jitpurphedi women Agriculture Co-operative Limited .In July, co-operative has been co-coordinating with district Soil Conservation Office Kathmandu, for seedling distribution program to co-operative members. The objective of seedling distribution is to increase the access of women in income generation, to make women financially independent by increasing income source, to develop the alternative source of income. For this program, co-operative management committee member conducted meeting for proposal submitting. They request to DSCO Kathmandu for seedling distribution. Co-operative received 1500 different type of seedling like; Orange, pomegranate, leman and guava from DSCO Kathmandu.
Co-operative prepared own rules for the distribution of seedling. The co-operative staffs distributed the plants to women (per head 4 plants) of Jitpurphedi’s community. Shanta Gajurel prepared her business plan to do large scale fruits farming and further requested for 300 plants to co-operative. So co-operative has given 300 lemon plants to her. Co-operative and VIN staff taught the women about the proper selection of fertilizer, correct use of fertilizer, soil preparation and other curing methods.
The women are happy to receive different type of plants. They thanked VIN and cooperative for their proper coordination with district office for seeds distribution.
