We are a research team wanting to study the lives of Tibetan Buddhist nuns in Nepal. We came here to make a documentary about them and the communities they live in. VIN helped us find the Buddhist nunneries that could participate in our project and contacted them on our behalf. When we arrived, VIN has already arranged our accommodation in Thamel, Kathmandu and transport to the nunneries. We were given helpful tips for getting by in Nepal and information on possible medical risks involved and ways of dealing with them. Fortunately we didn’t encounter any problems, but it was good to know that we can always contact VIN and ask for help.
The nunnery that we were placed in (Hasantar Gomba) was clean and we were well taken care of. The food was tasty and safe, we were provided safe drinking water at all times and our hosts were accommodating and friendly. We also felt very welcome in the Karma Samten Ling nunnery in Pharping and were able to forge a very good working relationship with both nunneries.
