After two month staying and working with VIN, I can qualify my volunteering time as a real great experience.
After several research for a volunteering organizationon internet I have been seduce by the proposal of VIN who give a placement directly in a small community where the need of the population about the health are very important.
After an induction of 3 days in the VIN office I had my placement in a family of the community where I have live for two month with other volunteers. This family was really kind with all of us and had really pay attention to introduce us into the Nepal culture.
About the work, I had two different type of activity. Three day of work in the Health post of the community where I was assisting the Doctor of the NGO in his consultations (helps for diagnoses, performing dressing, IV… ) and provide some teaching to the Nepali paramedic student who were in internship. My second action during this period was the conducting of a field survey inside the community, and the redaction of a public health and medical care report based on this survey.
My stay with VIN was really a good experience I had the opportunity to work in good condition and practice activity I can’t make in my normal nurse job in Europe. I have learned a lot with the contact of the Nepali people and I recommended this experience to everyone.
